Graphic Designer (Volunteer)

ADEC are celebrating our 35th year anniversary in 2018 and we require the help of a graphic designer to help us celebrate this milestone with style.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure in a NFP organisation.
Under supervision and with the Marketing Co-ordinator and different program leaders you will be refreshing and redesigning existing marketing collateral.

The bulk of your time will be to create items which have a strong visual impact.  The supporting English text will be created in “Easy English” style.

The most common documents that you will be helping to redesigning are:

  • Brochures (multiple topics)
  • Flyers
  • Newsletters
  • Website

This volunteer role will be a diverse and challenging  which will allow you to make a genuine and lasting impact on our clients, their carer’s and different business stakeholders.

Essential:

  • Creativity and enthusiasm
  • Strong graphic design capabilities, with the ability to take direction and generate concepts from different people;
  • Skills with Adobe InDesign or Canva;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to show initiative and communicate a vision;
  • Experience in, or direct exposure to, brand identity development and implementation.

    Preferred
  • Some prior experience in graphic design is highly regarded.


Your role would include:

  • With direction from the Marketing Coordinator and Program Managers to create finished material;
  • Assist in the designing brochures, e-newsletters, flyers & digital banners;
  • Assist in the developing engaging, professional and creative artwork/ graphic design materials.


Timeframe

ADEC is flexible on which days / times you would prefer to volunteer.

 Translators & Interpreters (Volunteer)

We need help in translating some documents currently written in English into a variety of different languages.
Can you please help us?
Some documents are basic brochures, other documents are Frequently Asked Questions style documents etc.  
All documents are written specifically for people living with a disability from a CALD background or their carers.

ADEC’s most urgent language needs are with the;

  • Afghan (Dari)  
  • Arabic
  • Greek
  • Chinese (Manderin and Cantonese)
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Karen
  • Turkish 
  • Vietnamese


All languages and dialects would be considered and braille welcome.

This role would be great for a person who prides themselves on their written language skills, a retired school teacher, someone looking to update their language skills or someone thinking about becoming a professional interpreter. You can work from home. We would really appreciate it if you could donate even as little as 1 hour per week.

Volunteers have the Responsibility to:

  • Be reliable in meeting all agreed volunteering obligations;
  • Be punctual and reliable in attendance;
  • Respect the confidentiality of all colleagues and clients;
  • Carry out the volunteering role to the best of their ability;
  • Be committed to the organisation, its values and philosophy;
  • Ask for support when it is needed;
  • Provide reasonable notice to any change in your ability to fulfil the role;
  • Undertake training that is required to fulfil the volunteering role;
  • Be accountable for all your efforts;
  • Value and support other team members;
  • Always behave in an ethical and responsible manner

 

Volunteers have the Right to:

  • Open information about the organisation for which you are volunteering;
  • Be in a safe and healthy working environment;
  • Orientation training appropriate to the volunteering role;
  • Be recognised as a valuable team member;
  • An agreed understanding of the role you will be undertaking;
  • Be covered by appropriate insurance;
  • Be advised of the manager you will be reporting to;
  • Receive ongoing supervision and feed back;
  • Be advised of any reimbursements you may be entitled to;
  • Say “No” to any request you believe may be inappropriate or dangerous
