Transcultural Mental Health Access Program

Everyone struggles with stress, fustration or feeling down at some point in their lives. Counselling can assist and is provided at no cost for people with a disability and/or carers within ethnic communities.

Why talk to a counsellor?

We're here to listen and help you better manage situations you are facing. Sometimes it is difficult to talk to family and friends. Counsellors are impartial. In addition, anything you talk to us about remains confidential and private.

Counselling Services may assist you to:

  • Overscome feelings such as depression, anxiety, guilt, anger, hurt and hopelessness, and other feelings causing distress
  • Improve your relationships at home, at work and within your community
  • Cope with loss and grief arising from death, seperation or divorce
  • Find new direction and purpose in your life or career
  • Improve motivation, performance and satisfaction at work
  • Manage stress and achieve a healthier lifestyle
  • Deal with traumatic events such as accidents, assult, suicide or natural disasters

Counselling services are available for you to discuss a specific situation, or to provide you with ongoing support. Counselling sessions are typically 1 hour, allowing more time for families and/or when using interpreter services.

Who can access our services?

  • People with a disability and/or their carers
  • Individuals, families and groups

Depending on your English skills, we can organise interpreters to assist where required.
